Our Story
MetroBike is the public bike share system that rolled into Austin in December of 2013. The system is owned by the City of Austin, a CapMetro service, and operated by the local 501(c)(3) non-profit Bike Share of Austin. Within the first couple of years MetroBike broke national records for check outs during SXSW, making it one of the most successful bike sharing programs in the country. In 2020 Capital Metro joined the City of Austin and Bike Share of Austin as a major stakeholder in the bike share system. As this new partnership continues to evolve so should the system and everything it has to offer the citizens of Austin, TX. There are currently 75 BCycle stations around downtown Austin holding both e-bikes and regular bikes.
